Step 1 Warming-up
1. Ask students do the daily report in front of class.
2. I will give students daily news in English with several sentences. Then begin the new class.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Find the difficult word in the passage.
Read the passage for the first time and circle the difficult words and phrases.
Students may find such words difficult educated, blow up, come to power, relative, terror, cruelty, reward .
Then ask them to look up for the dictionary and discuss the meaning and usage with their partners.
2. New words learning
After self-learning and discussion, students can report their learning results in front of class.
Student might give such answer:

This word students may have a difficulty in meaning choice in the context, I will ask them to read the sentence in the passage and pay attention to the preposition or and the word friends. Students may easily find the correct meaning.
Phrases learning.
I will make sentences to explain the phrases , for example:
Come to power
Revolutionaries who come to power by force of arms usually have great crimes in their background.
They'll want to ensure a smooth transition next year, when a new president and premier will come to power.
Then translate the sentence with the phrase come to power. In this way, the new words and phrase will be learnt.
Step 3 Practice
1. Make sentences with each new word and tell their desk mates. And then I will ask several students to share their sentences and give some evaluation.
2. Word puzzle.
Complete word puzzles on PPT. students will be divide into five groups. Which group complete the puzzle with the least time will be winner.
Step 4 Production
Read the passage again and answer my question.
When is the author begin to work?
How did they live when he hasn’t job?
What is his job ?
Step 5 Summary and homework
Give them a summary of these words and let students read these words in line. Homework is to do the exercise 1 on the book and retell the passage with key words next class.
